The non performance of some Transition Committee helmsmen has been brought to the fore as the ongoing tour of Councils in the State by the House of Assembly has exposed same.

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly acting on a letter sent to it by the State Governor seeking for a Resolution to extend the tenure of Transition Committees, set the ball rolling as it demanded to ascertain the level of performance of each Council to determine if they merit to be returned.

However, apart From Transition Committees including Ika, Essien Udim, Ibiono Ibom, Nsit Ibom, Etim Ekpo, Etinan, Uyo and a few others who have shown evidences of impacting lives, others had little or nothing to show for the funds received.
Nisit Atai local Government area headed by a two term Chairman and present Transition Committee Chairman Hon. Emem Ibanga findings have shown has performed below par and had little to nothing tangible to show.
Roads including Ikot Edong and Ikot Edebe which she claims to have graded were lying untouched even as Ikot Akpabio road where she hails from is in very deplorable condition.
Indigenes of the area who spoke to our reporter expressed dismay at the low performance of the Chairman listing things done while serving as Council Chairman for six years when was was asked for was those of the past six months as Transition Chairman even with the huge monthly allocation accrued compared to her colleagues in other local government areas noting that it was laughable the chairman claimed that celebration of the governor's birthday, purchasing a musnud or organising a lavish party for Royal father's was fit to be labeled as a project
They added that the issue of channelling funds to non existent projects wasn't a new thing in the council added that same was the case where she was suspended from office by the House of Assembly in 2020 and expressed worry why she was reappointed. They called on her to make public the number of physically challenged she claimed she empowered.
The Chairman who wasn't spared during the visit by the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs through remarks from the Deputy Speaker and the member representing Mbo State Constituency Sir Effiong Johnson where they expressed worry over her performance even after spending six years as Council Chairman and so months as Transition Chairman. While describing the council environment as very unfriendly, they wondered why the council till date had no peremeter fence even as the weren't impressed over the State of the Council Hall .
The chairman of the Committee, Rt. Hon. Mfon Idung while noting that the committee wasn't on a witch hinting expedition, stated that it was expedient that Chairmen of councils channel funds to tangible projects to the benefit of is citizens.
