ONNA Chairman Outlines Council's Progress in 2 Years

...says Critical Infrastructure Rebuilt

Executive Chairman of ONNA Local Government Area, Hon (Elder) Iniabasi Ekanem has outlined the council's progress in his last 2 years in office to include infrastructural development.





Speaking during a live radio programme "Arise Akwa Ibom" on Passion FM Uyo, on Friday, Ekanem said his administration has made giant strides in rewriting the development narrative of the area.

Elder who was speaking on "The Impact of Local Government Administration on the Stability of the State", said through support from state, the local government council areas have witnessed massive development.



"We have rebuilt critical infrastructure to strengthen productivity and sustainability and have created thousands of opportunities for our young people to be self employed and empowered,”.

He re-iterated that his administration is poised on delivering good governance by fulfilling his campaign promises and satisfying people- oriented needs, adding that in his quest to dish out dividends of democracy to the people, he has given financial support to small scale business owners and provided starter packs to business owners the area.

Elder Ekanem who said his administration was also committed to infrastructure development hinted that he has completed the Legislative Complex with 26 offices, renovated women Development center, cold room store National Population Commission office, constructed generator house, construction of 150m perimeter fence and renovation of ICT center in the area.

Other achievements according to the council boss include; revamping and restoration of water closets, reconnection of council premises to the national Grid and also Facilitated the installation of 500kva transformer in Ikot Ebekpo.

Meanwhile, the Leader of ONNA Legislative Council, Hon Collins Emmanuel has commended the effort of the local government Boss in bringing dividends of democracy and peace to the local government.

Hon Emmanuel maintained that the peace existing between the Executive and the Legislature has been superb and hinted that he would love to work with the Chairman again in future.
