...Says Akwa Ibom to become a reference  point

The Chairman, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Transport, Rt Hon. Otobong Bob has assured contractors handling government projects across the State that his Committee will not witch-hunt them, but will make sure all projects awarded are completed according to specifications.

Barr Bob made this known during the inauguration of the Committee on Works and Transport on Friday at the Assembly Complex.


The Lawmaker reiterated that the objective of the committee was to "make sure Akwa Ibom State become a reference point all over the world", stressing that the Committee has the interest of the State at heart.

Bob who said the Committee has over ten motions referred to the Committee to interface with contractors, ministries/ agencies and report back to the house, promised to ensure that they are speedily and meticulously attended to,  adding that the committee has men of integrity.

On the issue of multiple taxation on motorists, Hon Bob who is also the Deputy Leader of the House said the Committee will soon meet with relevant stakeholders to proffer solutions to the problem.

Speaking during the inauguration, Member Representing Okobo State Constituency, Hon Bassey Pius Bassey, urged the State Government to look into some rural communities that lack roads since rural development was encapsulated in the A.R.I.S.E Agenda of the present administration.


Members of the Committee at the inaugural meeting included; Rt Hon. Otobong Bob - Chairman, Hon Uwem Imo-Ita - Deputy Chairman, Hon Lawrence Udoide, Hon Uduak Ekpo-Ufot, Hon Aniefiok Attah, Hon Selina Ukpatu and Hon Jerry Otu.

Others are Hon Prince Ukpong Akpabio, Hon Uwemedimo Asuquo, Hon. Udobia Friday, Rt Hon Effiong Johnson, and Rt Hon. Nana Asuquo Udo.
