MARK ESSET MAKES CASE FOR THE REHABILITATION OF FEDERAL SCIENCE AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE, UKANA OFFOT IN UYO, AKWA IBOM STATE, AND ACROSS THE NATION

The member representing Uyo/Uruan/  /Nsit Atai/Ibesikpo Asutan Federal Constituency at the National Assembly Rt. Hon. Mark Esset has lamented over the sorry State of Federal Science and Technical College in Ukana offot in Uyo Akwa Ibom State and other similar institutions across the country.



The lawmaker who expressed dissatisfaction with the state of affairs of the federal science and technical college, during his motion at the floor of the House of Representatives tittle, Rehabilitation of Federal Science and Technical  College, Ukana Offot in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State,  condemn the obsolete infrastructural conditions of Federal Government owned Technical Colleges across the States of the federation.


According to him, technical and vocational education is key to boosting the economy and development of every developing nation in the 21st century.


 He maintained that the only way to tackle the projected intimidating unemployment rise in the country is to rely on self-sustaining jobs to survive, which calls for technical/vocational skills.


He frowned against the growing failure of the system to create jobs while at the same time neglecting technical education which he said holds the key to the creation of jobs for Nigerian youths.


Hon. Mark Esset who was a former State House of Assembly member and former local government Chairman in Akwa Ibom urged the federal government to rehabilitate, adequately fund and equip the federal Science and Technical College at Ukana Offot in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State with immediate effect for the optimum performance of the institution to give value to federal government investment.

 The motion which was unanimously adopted further prayed the federal government to provide special Intervention funds for the procurement of workshop facilities for the Ukana Offot technical and vocational institution in Uyo and others across the country for Nigerian youths to acquire life skills for personal and national development.
