Stakeholders and residents of Ibiono Ibom and Itu Local Government Areas have thrown their weight behind Governor Umo Eno, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and President Bola Tinubu, citing ongoing development projects and people-oriented policies as reasons for their support.

The endorsement was made on Thursday during the inauguration of the Chapter Executives and Advisory Councils of the Arise with Renewed Hope Initiative, a political group set up to drive grassroots mobilisation for the re-election of the three leaders in 2027.

President General of the Initiative, Engr. Uwem Okoko, speaking at both venues, said the spread of democratic dividends across the two LGAs by Governor Umo Eno, particularly the Mother-and-Child Hospital in Ibiono Ibom, was enough reason for the people to support and return the leaders for a second tenure.

Okoko also urged the people to back President Bola Tinubu, noting that the President played a critical role in the emergence of Godswill Akpabio as President of the 11th Senate. According to him, sustaining such support would ensure Akpabio’s re-election and continuation as Senate President in the 12th Senate.

Senator Bassey Albert described Ibiono Ibom as one of the major vote baskets of the State and said he had aligned with the people’s position to support the re-election of Governor Umo Eno. He expressed satisfaction with the governor’s leadership style, particularly his humane disposition, noting that the governor’s conduct reflects his faith and has earned his total support.

Earlier, the International Coordinator of the Initiative, Sir Udo Kierian Akpan, said the visit was aimed at inaugurating the new chapter leadership and galvanising grassroots support for the re-election of Governor Umo Eno and President Bola Tinubu in 2027. He urged members and stakeholders to remain loyal to the party and rally support for its candidates when the time comes.

Chairman of the Council, Asuakak Umoh, in his welcome and acceptance address, said the people of Ibiono Ibom were pleased to receive the team in the local government area and assured that they would work towards the re-election of Governor Umo Eno.

To affirm the unified position of the people of Ibiono Ibom, a motion endorsing President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno for a second term was moved by the Councillor representing Ward 1, Ita Bassey, and seconded by the Councillor representing Ward 5, Umoh Udofia.

In Itu Local Government Area, Ubong Ukutt, Chairman of the council, was appointed Coordinator of the chapter, while Ekaette Okon emerged Chairman of the Advisory Council. The duo pledged their commitment to mobilising massive grassroots support for the re-election of the three leaders.

In their goodwill messages, stakeholders including the Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Kufreabasi Edidem, CEO of Basse Engineering, Bassey Ekanem, Nse Willie, Akparawa James Edet, and Obonganwan Grace Ekong, assured that the people of Itu would vote massively for the governor, citing the dividends of democratic governance as the basis for their support.
