Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP), from the the various wards of Abak, yesterday unanimously rejected the third term bid of the current Transition Chairman of Abak, Hon. Ekerette Inyang.

This is coming on the heels of the recent endorsement by a fraction of stakeholders said to be spearheaded by the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong.

They argued that Abak chairmanship position has always been on zoning arrangement as agreed upon by stakeholders involved, and frowned at gimmicks by a handful of persons attempting to truncate the peaceful zoning arrangement.

A sociopolitical group, identified as Abak Equity Group on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 registered their displeasure by making their stance known on the purported endorsement of the incumbent Transition Chairman running for a second term.

The release read: "It is unfortunate that some people in the local government area allow themselves to be used in perpetrating evil, but, in the interest of posterity we will never support that at all.

"That we do not support the ceding of Chairmanship position to Afaha Obong again for the third consecutive time.

Abak Equity Group also expressed their total support to the recent statement credited to  the erstwhile Deputy Governor of the State, Mr. Moses Ekpo, alongside former Member  Representing Abak/Etim Ekpo/ Ika at House of Representatives, Hon. Aniekan Umanah, and the Managing Director of APICO, Barr. Patrick Udomfang who rejected and described the endorsement as a 'Kangaroo' arrangement.

They called on Governor Umo Eno to come to their aid against what they described as "wanton show of greed and crass third term ambition by promoters of injustice" aiming at  giving Afaha Obong Clan another 3 years to make it 12 years in a row.
