PDP Youths Uncover Plot to Impeach Bayelsa Deputy Governor

It appears the crisis rocking the build up to the Bayelsa State governorship election is gradually taking different dimensions, as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youths kicked against the alleged plot to impeach the deputy governor of the state, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John-Jonah (rtd).

It was alleged that the plot to impeach the deputy governor is not unconnected to his stance against the manipulation of the forthcoming governorship primary in the state.

The PDP South South Youth Vanguard, in a statement by its National Chairman, James Efe Akpofure, warned against the plot to impeach the deputy governor, pointing out that the deputy governor has been a loyal and dependable person, who ought to be rewarded by his principal.

The group, which fingered Governor Seriake Dickson in the plot to impeach the deputy, added that it gathered that members of the State House of Assembly have already been mobilized to carry out the act.

Recall the Youth Vanguard had warned against interference in the forthcoming governorship primary, adding that interfering with the primary would send a wrong signals.

The group had also advised the state governor to allow all the aspirants to have a level playing field in the forthcoming primary in other for the party to produce the best candidate.

The PDP Youth Vanguard said that the alleged plot would not only destabilize the party, but will open room for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to have a smooth sail in the coming governorship election.

They reinstated that the governor should play a fatherly role now that he's rounding off his tenure, as interference would only bring discord to the party in the state.

The group said: "If what we have gathered is true that the plot to impeach the deputy governor is because of his stance against manipulating the September 3 primary, that will be very wrong on the side of the governor. The deputy governor has done well and he should be rewarded."
