Construction Work Resumes on Calabar/Itu/Odukpani Highway in Few Days.

The Presidency has put a lie to the widespread insinuation that work on the Calabar/Itu/Odukpani highway has been abandoned. Rather, the Federal government says work on the road will resume in a matter of days.

The confirmation came from the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters(Senate) Senator Ita Enang, Tuesday in a telephone interview on TEAM NIGERIA CLASSIC, on Inspiration FM , Uyo.

Senator Enang also dismissed rumour that the contractors had vacated the site, saying that merely slowed down for logistics reasons.

According to the Senior Presidential Aide, the lull was because, according to the contractors, the money they received from the 2018 Federal budget was almost getting exhausted.              And this was because part of the money was used in the payment of compensation on the Akwa Ibom side of the road and some construction on the Cross River axis.

Senator Ita Enang announced that with the signing of the 2019 budget, releases have since commenced and arrangements have been concluded to draw down more funds for continuation of work on the road.

Answering a question on how much was likely to be released, senator Ita Enang said funds were released to contractors based on based on the IPCs raised by them.               In addition to the budgetary releases, Enang said efforts were also being made to raise money from other independent infrastructure finding sub heads.

He assured that President Buhari was very committed to the prompt completion of work on the road.
